How to wire two sets of lights on one circut?

I want to add a circuit to my basement consisting of 6 recessed lights and one light for a closet all on the same circuit. I am going to use only 12/2 wire and wanted to go to the first switch and to the 6 recessed lights but how do i get the other switch and one closet light wired up on the same circuit. So basically how do you get two sets of lights with switches for each set independent of the other all on the same circuit???? One switch for 6 lights and one switch for one light both on the same circuit with 12/2 wire?
