How do i hook up my surround sound?

The subwoofer you have more than likely does not have a power amplifier in it. Connecting it to the front speaker will work, keep in mind that the remaining other channels does not have any low frequency being sent to them. You can purchase a subwoofer that has a build in power amplifier so than you can connect it to your receiver. You tv should not be connected to the receiver. You connect every else to the receiver and then connect an HDMI cable to the tv, then connect an optical cable from the tv audio output and then connect it to the receiver optical audio input. This way you can hear the sound when you watch tv (make sure you select the source input when you want to hear the tv audio). The tv connect for your receiver is for connecting the cable box or disc network to it. Hope this will help you out.
